| The Blues concluded arguably the finest season in boys' soccer program history with a come-from-behind victory over The Haverford School at Philadelphia University to earn The Hill's first PAISAA State Championship after having fallen to the Fords in the previous two finals. Haverford took a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute and held that advantage until the 74th minute when Colten Habecker '14 buried a penalty kick to level the match at 1-1. Neither team found the back of the net in the remaining six plus minutes or two five minute overtime periods, sending the match to penalty kicks. Habecker drilled his spot kick to put The Hill up 1-0. Hill keeper Shaun Quinn '14, who had seven saves in regulation including two spectacular ones, stretched to save the first Ford PK and athletically pushed the third over the crossbar, the same crossbar the Blues had hit twice in the first half. Will Blake '15 and John Rader '14 easily converted their spot kicks before Mark Forrest '15 stepped up with a chance to end the match. Forrest, who notched a top-5 all-time 20 goals on the season, nailed his kick and sent the multi-busload student section into a frenzy. Habecker finished his outstanding Hill career having shattered the single season and career scoring marks with 34 and 60, respectively, eclipsing the previous marks of 22 and 51. On the other end of the ledger, Hill's defense anchored by Wyatt Fabian '14 yielded just 11 goals in 20 matches, another program best. To continue the record shattering, The Hill's 19-1-0 balance sheet set a new mark for wins in a single season. |
